State law requires the City to adopt a budget and provides procedures for the filing of the budget, deliberations, public hearings, and final adoption. The City Council has held three public hearings (two on the budget, one on revenue sources) as required and considered the 2024 preliminary budget over the course of three study sessions. These were held September 5th, October 3rd and October 17th, 2023.

On November 7, 2023 the City Council adopted the 2024 Budget.

The Newcastle City Council wants to hear from you! Members of the public are invited to share thoughts during public hearings or two open public comment periods at meetings. Regular meetings of the City Council occur on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at City Hall, starting at 7 p.m. You can also email your thoughts to Councilmembers.
