Serve Your Community: Join the Planning Commission

The Commission is made up of city residents who help shape Newcastle’s future by advising the Council on matters affecting land use, such as the Comprehensive Plan, other long-range plans, and zoning and development codes. Commissioners work with city staff on projects approved by the City Council as part of an annual work program.

The Commission is a seven-member advisory board of the City Council. Commissioners serve four-year terms. Members are appointed by the Mayor following a selection process and confirmed by the Council.

Community Activities Commission Meeting Information:

Location: Council Chambers, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle, WA 98056

Time: Typically, the Commission meets on the Fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., although special meetings may be held outside of the regular meeting schedule.

Application Process:

  • Age and Residency: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Newcastle.
