Park at 95th

The City of Newcastle is inviting community members to help shape the future of one of its most significant undeveloped park sites - the Park at 95th.

Located on a 32-acre parcel along SE 95th Way, this site was originally master-planned in 2009 as a large community park featuring playfields, trails, and open space. Construction was delayed due to economic conditions at the time, but the property remains one of the few large, city-owned parcels suitable for a future park.

Now, more than a decade later, the City is revisiting that vision and wants to hear from the community before moving forward. “We’re beginning a new community outreach and visioning phase to understand what community members would like to see in this park today,” said Parks & Trails Planner Brendan Hutchins. “This survey will help us determine whether the original master plan still fits, or if community priorities have evolved.”

The short online survey asks participants to share what kinds of park amenities, activities, or features they value most, from sports fields and walking trails to gathering spaces or natural areas. Input collected this fall and winter will help guide updates to the site’s master plan and identify next steps for future development.

Why Your Feedback Matters
Community feedback is essential to ensure the park reflects current needs and priorities. Since 2009, Newcastle has grown and community preferences have changed, with increasing interest in both active and passive recreation spaces, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

By sharing your perspective, you’ll help the City balance these goals and create a park that serves community members of all ages for years to come.
