Earth Month 2025

Join the City of Newcastle this April as we celebrate Earth Month with a series of events focused on protecting our planet and making a difference in our community. Whether you want to clean up green spaces, explore nature, or take steps toward sustainability, there’s something for everyone.

Protect Our Waterways
Help keep Newcastle’s waterways clean by adopting a drain by adopting a drain this April. If you’ve already adopted one, take time to clear it of debris and report what you find. Together, we can help turn Newcastle blue by keeping our storm drains clean and free of pollutants.

Explore Nature
Get outside and enjoy Newcastle’s beautiful parks and trails while contributing to citizen science. Log your nature discoveries on the iNaturalist app to help track biodiversity. Visit bit.ly/NewcastleParksMap to find a park near you or bit.ly/NewcastleTrailsMap for a trail guide.

Keep It Green
Composting is a simple way to reduce waste and enrich the soil. Stop by City Hall to pick up a free compost bin, decorate it, and share your creativity by tagging #newcastlewa on social media. Let’s inspire each other to live more sustainably.

Keep It Green
Join the Weed Warriors work party on Saturday, April 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. outside the Newcastle Historic Cemetery to help remove invasive ivy and storm debris. Volunteers ages 16 and older (or younger with an adult) are welcome.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Dispose of hard-to-recycle items responsibly at the Spring Recycling Collection Event on Saturday, April 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Hazelwood Elementary School. Take this opportunity to clean out unwanted items and ensure they are recycled properly.

These activities are great ways to get involved, make a difference, and show appreciation for our environment. For more information, contact [email protected].
