Councilmember Pratima Lakhotia

Pratima Lakhotia has been a Newcastle resident since 2013, when she moved here with her husband and daughter. They found Newcastle to be the perfect location for their family due to its proximity to work and their love for nature and outdoor activities.    

Pratima moved from India in 2000 to pursue her Master’s of Business Administration in Finance. She fell in love with America and decided to stay. She is currently in her first term on the Newcastle City Council and was elected for a four-year term starting in 2022.   

Pratima brings over 20 years of experience in financial management, business analytics, strategy, and budgeting at various Fortune 500 companies, including T-Mobile and Microsoft. After working in corporate America for many years, she decided to switch gears and utilize her time in serving the community. She currently runs a nonprofit, Teenswhocare, along with her daughter, engaging over 2,100 high school volunteers who give back to the community every day.   
Pratima lives in the Reserve neighborhood with her husband Savinay and her daughter Sameeksha, who is in high school. During her spare time, she likes to go hiking, biking in summers, snowshoeing during winters, and traveling with family and friends.
