Welcome Scott PingelFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Newcastle, Wash. -- At their August 3 special meeting, the Newcastle City Council unanimously approved the execution of an agreement for city manager services with Scott Pingel.

“The City of Newcastle will greatly benefit from Mr. Pingel's 12 years of experience as a city manager in a small city,” said Mayor Linda Newing. “His familiarity with small-city operations will bring a new perspective to Newcastle and will nicely compliment the institutional knowledge of our existing management team. We look forward to bringing him on board September 6, and to introducing him to residents as we begin a new era in our community."

Scott Pingel is the current city manager for Fircrest, Washington, where he has served since 2017. Prior to that, Mr. Pingel’s city management experience extended to Dayton, Oregon (2013 to 2017) and to Stanfield, Oregon (2010 to 2013). His career in city management offices began in 2007 when he worked as an intern for the nearby city of Federal Way, Washington. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University in 2005, and he earned his Master’s in Public Administration from West Virginia University in 2007.

As a student at Brigham Young, he met his wife, Lindsey, while they were both Sports Camps counselors. They’ve been married for 20 years and have five children together.

"There are several things that I am looking forward to about joining the City of Newcastle,” said Mr. Pingel. “I really like the way the City is organized, I'm excited to tackle the challenges facing the City, and I am excited about working with the Council and staff. With all that is going on in the community and the pieces the City has in place, I am most excited about the opportunity to have a positive impact."
