Ballot Drop Box

As Election Day approaches on Tuesday, November 5, King County Elections encourages voters to avoid the last-minute rush by dropping their ballots early. The Newcastle City Hall ballot drop box has historically been one of King County’s busiest, and a surge in traffic is expected this Election Day. Tuesdays at City Hall are already typically busy with City Council in the evening and Mercer Island Court earlier in the day.

Traffic Support and Drop Box Staff

On Election Day, traffic flaggers will be stationed at the drop box starting at 12:30 p.m. Additionally, a uniformed police officer will arrive at 4:00 p.m. to help manage the evening rush and ensure a secure environment until the drop box closes at 8:00 p.m.

To support voters, King County Elections staff will be on-site at high-traffic locations by noon, and staff at other locations by 6:00 p.m. These team members will be easy to spot in branded safety vests and aprons, ready to assist voters and secure the ballot boxes promptly at 8:00 p.m.

Safety and Security: A Team Effort

Given the high turnout and public interest in this election, King County Elections has partnered with the King County Sheriff’s Office, local police, King County Emergency Management, and federal agencies to address any potential issues and ensure a safe voting experience. While preparations are well underway, if you see anything unusual, please reach out to Elections staff on-site.

Avoid the Traffic - Vote Early!

King County Elections highly recommends dropping off your ballot as soon as possible to avoid the Election Day lines. Every vote counts, and submitting your ballot early ensures that your voice is heard without the stress of last-minute crowds.
