August Primary Election
Posted on 07/12/2018

King County Elections will mail ballots for the Aug. 7 Primary on July 18, and this year, citizens can return their ballot through the mail without a stamp.

In May 2018, the King County Council approved the budget request for prepaid postage. By eliminating the need for a stamp, it removes a barrier for voters, encourages higher ballot return rates and allows all communities to become further engaged in the elections process.

Voters can see what's on their ballots now on the King County Elections site here. Citizens can still choose to return their ballots at the Newcastle City Hall drop box. The drop box will be open 24 hours a day beginning on July 19, before closing at 8 p.m. on Election Day. If you choose to return your ballot by mail, just make sure it's postmarked by Election Day. King County also offers accessible voting centers where voters who need assistance completing their ballot can get help.
