Save the date for Saturday, April 3, 2021! That's when the City of Newcastle will host our Spring Recycling Event. There are a few important changes to be aware of. As costs rise to secure vendors, we’ve made the decision to forgo the printed mailer in an effort to offer a wider array of recycling services. So please help us get the word out and spread the news to your neighbors!
The savings allowed us to bring back Styrofoam collection this spring, with an eye toward switching that out for paper shredding in the fall. As always, we will accept batteries, electronic equipment, cardboard, porcelain toilets/sinks, propane tanks, mattresses, appliances and scrap metals. PLEASE NOTE: Some items come with a recycling fee. Please see the brochure for costs. CASH ONLY. Please use exact change.
We cannot accept household goods or clothing at this event. Due to logistical challenges and completely full warehouses, the company that collects reusable household goods and clothing indicated that they will not be able to participate this spring.
DO NOT bring household goods, scrap wood, yard debris, garbage, furniture, toys or any hazardous waste (motor oil, antifreeze, oil-based paint, pesticides, solvents, thinners, household chemicals).
The event goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hazelwood Elementary School (7100 116th Ave SE). Attendees are encouraged to wear masks and to pack your items so they can be removed quickly.
