Prepare Your Family for Emergencies

Preparedness is the foundation for building resilient communities. While King County Emergency Management focuses on preparing our whole community for disasters, you also have a role to play in emergency preparedness. By planning ahead, you can increase your ability to survive and thrive in the face of disaster, everything from an earthquake to a major winter storm.

Provide Information to Responders with Smart911
Smart911 is a supplemental data service that allows you to create a safety profile that can be seen by emergency responders when you call 9-1-1. King County is the first jurisdiction in Washington State to implement Smart911.

Smart911 is currently up and running in Seattle and unincorporated areas of King County. We are working on being countywide soon. You can sign up today at Smart911.com and be ready when we are fully implemented.

Develop Disaster Skills Through Training Programs
Participating in Local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs will provide you with essential skills and knowledge needed during emergency situations. While Newcastle does not currently offer CERT, training can be found in nearby jurisdictions.
